Sales Tax Policy
Last Updated: [Insert Date]Local Container Deals is a Florida-based business. We are required to collect Florida sales tax on qualifying purchases in accordance with Florida law.
Florida Sales Tax
Florida's state sales tax rate is 6% . In addition to the state rate, Florida counties may levy a discretionary sales surtax (also called a county surtax) . The total tax rate applied to your purchase depends on the county where the container is delivered or picked up.
As of 2026, the combined state and average local sales tax rate in Florida is approximately 6.98% . However, your actual rate will vary by county.
When Tax Applies
Sales tax generally applies when:
- You take delivery of a container within the State of Florida
- The container is delivered to a Florida address
- You pick up the container at our Florida location
Tax-Exempt Purchases
If you are purchasing a container for resale, you may be eligible to use a Florida Annual Resale Certificate for Sales Tax (Form DR-13) to make a tax-exempt purchase . To qualify:
- You must be a registered Florida dealer with a valid resale certificate
- You must provide us with a copy of your valid Annual Resale Certificate at the time of purchase
- The container must be purchased for resale, not for your own use
If goods bought for resale are later used by your business (not resold), you are required to report and pay use tax, plus any applicable discretionary sales surtax, on those items .
Out-of-State Delivery
If your container is shipped outside the State of Florida, Florida sales tax generally does not apply. However, you may be responsible for sales tax or use tax in your destination state. Local Container Deals is not responsible for collecting or remitting tax in other states.
Documentation
We will provide a sales invoice for every transaction. This invoice will show the container price, applicable sales tax, and total due.
